I have had a series of articles on detoxing the body. We live in a polluted world. We take in toxins by breathing polluted air (do you drive a car or ride public transportation?). You eat food that has been modified and loaded with pesticides. These do not wash off the food. You put all sorts of chemicals on your body in makeup, lotions and more if you do things like tattoos.
This article is about how you can detox the body. Methods to detox the body include:
- eating an organic whole foods diet
- water fast
- protein powder cleanse
The first and easiest thing you can do is to change your diet to a good whole foods diet. Two diets that I like are macrobiotic and raw foods. This may seem like an oxymoron but it isn’t. They are both whole food diets. There is limited sugar and no artificial anything. Your body will do everything in it’s power to get well. We have to get out of the way. Give the body good, clean food and it will detox itself. By the way, clean food is organic, best if locally grown, no hormones, no antibiotics, no GMO, no high fructose corn syrup etc and so forth.
Juice fasting is a great way to cleanse. You drink diluted vegetable juices. They provide some calories, vitamins and minerals. And this fast will give the intestinal track a rest. Usually this fast includes enemas to prevent constipation. There is no fiber in diluted vegetable juice.
A water fast is a more challenging. You drink only water for the 1 to 3 day fast. It is only for the seasoned “faster”. Supervision is suggested.
Protein powder fast uses protein and added nutrients to assist the fasting process. It could be a meal replacement or the only thing you ingest. Young Living Oils has a nice 5 day cleanse using this system. There are others out there.
Chelation is an intravenous infusion of a solution EDTA or oral DMSA that will bind and remove heavy metals from the body.
Do not start any cleanse without the advise of your health care provider. If you have never done any of these cleanses, you will need some guidance.
The next step is to stop putting toxins in/on/around your body, to the best of your ability. The body can cleanse itself if we don’t over load it with additional toxins.
