Ways to Detox

I have had a series of articles on detoxing the body. We live in a polluted world. We take in toxins by breathing polluted air (do you drive a car or ride public transportation?). You eat food that has been modified and loaded with pesticides. These do not wash off the food. You put all sorts of chemicals on your body in makeup, lotions and more if you do things like tattoos.

This article is about how you can detox the body. Methods to detox Read more »

The Healing Crisis and Detox

Let’s talk about what can happen as you start a detox program. Detoxification is a challenge for a couple of reasons. They include the limited diet and a healing crisis.

First you may be changing your diet in ways that are foreign to your appetite. You will be eliminating sugar and all sugar like substances. Most of us have a little dependence on sugar. If you eat the standard American diet, you will have a big dependence on sugar. Caffeine products like coffee, tea, soda have to go. Dairy and may also be restricted during the cleans. The food will taste funny and look funny and you may not be satisfied.

The next thing you will experience is a healing crisis. As you start eliminating toxins from your body you will start to have symptoms that include: headache, muscle aches, fatigue, diarrhea, runny nose, depression, and foggy thinking. You may think that you have caught a cold or flu. You might even be tempted to stop the cleanse.

Don’t stop! Jump up and down for joy because your body is cleaning itself out and riding several layers of toxins. Keep doing the cleanse. Drink lots (I mean LOTS of water), more than the 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight. Try to drink 12 eight ounce glasses of water. Rest when you need to.

When you finish a cleanse you will be thinking more clearly, have less pain, more mobility, and feel better. It will also be easier to drop the extra weight.

Look for the next article on the types of cleanses you can do.

Detox for Success

If you want to be healthy, you have to “detox” or get rid of the toxins that are building up in your body. There are two questions that come to my mind when I think about this statement.

Eating Healthy in Japan Part 2

Homemade miso soup with mushrooms

I am in Japan for two plus weeks, teaching my energy healing program. It can be hard to eat well while traveling. It is not cheap to eat in Japan. Everything is more expensive here. So what, I am in Japan and I am going to enjoy myself.

I have chosen to make my own short grain brown rice porridge for my daily breakfast. That way I know that I start out my day in a healthy way. Read more »

Eating Healthy in Japan Part 1

I am in Tokyo teaching my HealthWorks Energy Healing program. It is wonderful. But how do you eat well when you are away from home?

I am lucky that I have a condo with a galley kitchen set up.  There is a 2 burner gas stove, hot pot, microwave and small refrigerator/freezer. I have service for two. There is only one french chief knife, 2 pots and one top, one bowl. There is a rice cooker but directions are in Japanese. Hmmm. Read more »

Trade a sugar sweeten beverage for low fat or skim milk part 2

Yesterday I responded to a daily challenge that I participate in regularly. The challenge was to trade a sugar sweetened beverage for a no added sugar juice, water or low fat or skim milk. Yesterday I spoke on the juice part of that challenge.

Sugar is not our friend. It may taste yummy. It may give you an energy pick-me-up, but only temporarily. There is sugar in milk. But I think that fat was the issue here. Read more »
